Sabutay Uğur - PICASSO-GUERNICA

Notes:

Harmonic structure is based on polynomial equations and it is built on 24 notes. Vertical sound layers are formed in this way. For the harmonic walks of these sound layers, firstly a sound sequence is generated based on the equation. Harmonic walks is created by series of harmonics of the basic tone of these sound sequences. Example: harmonic series of C sound. Playing duration of each harmonic structures occurs with the reference duration values assigned to the sounds. According to these duration values, the rhythm of the bars are assigned.

Tuning information:

I am using quarter tones in the composition.

Composer bio:

Sabutay Uğur started the Department of Physics at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2007. At the same time he started the musical education when he studied the classical guitar with Sezgin Atila in this University’s Course Center. Then, he took private lessons from Dr. Stefan Pohlit on theory, Anadolu University School of Music and Drama Music Department Piano Academic Members Assoc. Prof. Oytun Eren on ear- training, dictate and piano, and Dr. Berkant Gençkal on harmony. He followed the counterpoint and harmony lessons of Asst. Prof. Dr. Tolga Zafer Özdemir as a guest student in Istanbul Bilgi University and he studied on composition with him. He started to write compositions with intuitive-mathematical algorithms and techniques using mathematics and physics relations, equations and formulas. Theoretic part of these compositions are supported with mathematics and physics equations which are created specially by him and intuitive part is usually supported with the psychological concepts.
