This piece consists in seven contrapuntal variations on Handel's Air known as "The Harmoniuos Blacksmith". The Air is played in 31edo, whereas the variations are played as follows : Variation 1 · 15edo Variation 2 · 11edo Variation 3 · 21edo Variation 4 · 16edo Variation 5 · 22edo Variation 6 · 19edo Variation 7 · 13edo The Air is played again after Variation 7. Each edo gives rise to different contrapuntal worlds and techniques, which are synthetically explored here, always keeping in mind the original flavour of the Air. Instrumentation is : Recorder, Oboe, Bassoon, Cello, Lute.

Claudi Meneghin is a microtonal composer. He was born in Milan on 1967-07-14. He started to study classical guitar at the age of eight and organ at the age of twenty. He was awarded a MSc in mathematics in 1995 and a PhD in mathematics in 2001.
